What are the features of rubber waterstop belts?

Rubber waterstop is an elastic material widely used in waterproofing concrete structure joints. Its core features are as follows:
 
1. Excellent elasticity and deformation adaptability
High elasticity: The rubber material can effectively adapt to the deformation of the concrete structure (such as expansion joints and settlement joints), and restore to its original state after stretching or compression to maintain sealing.
Tear resistance: The elongation at break can reach 300%~380%, which can withstand large tension and torsion to avoid cracking due to structural displacement.
 
2. Weather resistance and aging resistance
Wide temperature range performance: The applicable temperature range is -45℃~+60℃. Some modified products can withstand high temperatures of 70℃ for a short period of time and remain flexible at low temperatures.
Ozone and UV resistance: Stretch 30% under an ozone concentration of 50pphm, and no cracking for 150 hours, suitable for long-term outdoor use.
 
3. Chemical corrosion resistance and waterproofness
Acid, alkali and salt resistance: It has good resistance to chemicals such as alcohol, acid and alkali, but lipids and aromatic solvents may affect performance.
Waterproof seal: By combining the compressed rubber segment with the concrete, a reliable waterproof barrier is formed, which is especially suitable for projects with high water pressure (such as reservoir tunnels).
 
4. Mechanical strength and durability
High tensile strength: The tensile strength of ordinary products is ≥12~15MPa, and the steel edge reinforced type can further improve the bearing capacity.
Abrasion resistance: Resist the friction of aggregates in concrete and extend the service life.
 
5. Special types and structural designs
Buried type/external type: The buried type adapts to the internal deformation of the structure, and the external type is used for external waterproofing (such as basements).
Steel edge composite type: Galvanized steel plates are added on both sides to enhance rigidity and impermeability, which is suitable for high water pressure projects.
 
6. Limitations
High temperature limit: It is easy to age when it exceeds 70℃ for a long time or in a strong oxidizing environment, and oil solvent erosion must be avoided.
High construction requirements: It needs to be accurately fixed to prevent displacement or puncture during pouring.
Rubber waterstop can meet the needs of various projects through material formulation and structural optimization (such as EPDM improving weather resistance), but the type and construction plan must be selected according to the specific environment.
